Should I Report a Lost Credit Card to the Credit Bureau?

Question: Should I Report a Lost Credit Card to the Credit Bureau?
Answer: You don’t have to report a lost credit card to the credit bureau unless there's something wrong with the way the credit card is listed on your credit report. In that case, use the credit report dispute process to correct any credit report errors.

However, if you’re afraid that you may become a victim of credit card fraud or identity theft, you can place a fraud alert on your credit report. This fraud alert is a comment that tells anyone who checks your credit report to confirm your identity before granting credit.

You should always report a lost credit card to your credit card issuer who can cancel that credit card number and issue a new one. That way, if someone finds your credit card, they won’t be able to use it.
