How long until an item shows up on my credit report?

By LaToya Irby, About.com

Question: How long until an item shows up on my credit report?
Answer: It depends. It's not the best answer, but it's the most honest one. Whether something shows up on your credit report and when depends on when the creditor or lender reports it to the credit bureau. Some businesses don't report to the credit bureaus at all. In those situations, the information may never appear on your credit report.

If, however, you're waiting on a creditor to correct inaccurate information as a result of a credit report dispute, expect the update to appear anywhere from 0-60 days after the credit bureau's investigation comes back in your favor.
