Question: How Long Can a Repossession Stay on My Credit Report?
Answer: A repossession will appear in the public records section of your credit report and remain for seven years. If the auto lender sues you and obtains a judgment from the court, that listing will also remain on your credit report for seven years.
If an erroneous repossession is on your credit report – including repossession older than seven years – you can use the credit report dispute process to have it removed.
