How long will an unpaid medical bill stay on my credit report?

Unpaid medical bills can wind up on your credit report just like any other delinquent debt, particularly if the medical bill is sent to a debt collector. And, like most other negative credit report information, unpaid medical bills will stay on your credit report for up to seven years, even after you pay the debt.

If the medical bill appears on your credit report in error, you can use the credit report dispute process to have the account removed.
