I keep hearing and reading that any company that says they can get part (or most) of your debt removed is telling a lie. I want (or need) to consolidate my debt and find an easier way to fit payments into a budget. Even on your emails and web site on Twitter and this blog show companies that are saying that you can be debt free in 24 – 48 months and they can reduce your credit card debt. What is the deal, is it a lie, sham or are there actually companies like Freedom Debt Relief and Debt Relief USA that can actually help do this on the up and up? Also, what exactly does it do to your credit rating? Do these accounts show up as uncollected and lower your score or are they listed as settled accounts?
