The pay for delete is one strategy you can use to remove negative information from your credit report. The way it works is you negotiate with the creditor to remove an entry in exchange for full payment on the account. Creditors don't have to do this for you, but some people have seen success. You can make the negotiation by phone or send a pay for delete letter to the creditor or debt collector.
If you want to negotiate removal of an account you've already paid, try a goodwill letter. Again, it's just a request. Creditors don't have to comply.
