Be More Cautious With Online Credit Card Shopping

Using your credit card to shop online can be riskier than when you use it in person. That's because it's easier for credit card thieves to create fake websites than it is to create fake stores.

When you use your credit card online, be on guard for impostor websites and other scams designed to steal your credit card information.

Also look for signs to ensure a site is reputable and has some level of security. For example marks such as BBBOnline, Hackersafe (now Macafee), TrustE, etc… all indicate some level of trust with the site

Also look for alternative payment options that give you better guarantees and some even do not ask for credit cards or do not ask you to disclose any financial information.
