The Very First Credit Card - Ever

While the concept of credit - getting the goods now and paying for them later - has been around since early B.C., it wasn't until the 1950s that a credit card which could be used at different locations was introduced. Jennifer Rosenberg, About Guide to 20th Century History, covers the details in The First Credit Card.

My first credit card was a Citibank Student Visa card. It had a $500 limit and offered 1% cash back on purchases. Pretty good for a first credit card. Do you remember yours? Let us know in the comments.

I remember my first card in ‘81, although it was a far cry from todays! Amazing to think of how common credit cards now are.
