Regifting as a Holiday Debt Alternative

I've heard of giving away unused gifts - and have actually given away some myself - but never knew there was a term for it (and a holiday, December 20th is National Regifting Day). Regifting is giving away gifts that were once given to you, sometimes passing off slightly used gifts as being new. If you know you'll never wear the sweater you got playing White Elephant at last year's office party, why not pass it along to a relative or friend this Christmas?

The good thing about regifting is you don't have to spend more money purchasing gifts. Instead of charging gifts for people who don't fit into your budget, why not give away something you already have, but won't be using? Before you start wrapping the picture frames that once held your family portraits, read the Rules of Re-Gifting from About Housewares Guide Mariette Mifflin and find out 7 things you shouldn't regift from Couponing Guide Donna L Montaldo.
