Free Credit Monitoring After TransUnion Lawsuit Settlement

Saturday May 31, 2008

Free credit reports are very common these days, with and without strings attached. Free credit scores, on the other hand, are not so common. Now, thanks to a lawsuit settlement involving TransUnion, many consumers will be entitled to both a credit report and a free credit score.

Anyone who had an open credit account in the U.S. between January 1, 1987 to May 28, 2008 will receive up to 9 months of TransUnion's credit monitoring service for free. By June 16, consumers can determine their eligibility and file claims by visiting www.listclassaction.com or calling (866) 416-3470.

TransUnion is one of the three major credit bureaus. The bureau recently settled a lawsuit involving an FCRA violation of selling consumer information.
