How Inquiries Affect Your Score

They count as 10% of your total score, but what exactly is the effect of credit inquiries to your credit score?

You may have read that too many credit inquiries can hurt your credit score. For inquiries to really affect your credit score, they must be recent (within the past six months) and they must have been placed when you made an application for credit.

If you have a thin credit file - a short history with only a few accounts - inquiries will affect your credit score more.
