Keep Your Luggage Close And Your Credit Cards Closer

Thursday May 3, 2007
Right on the heels of a indictment of waiters for credit card fraud, comes a similar arrest of four JetBlue employees who made fraudulent purchases using credit cards left by hurrying customers.

A few tips for travellers to keep credit card safe:
  • Try to arrive at the airport 1-2 hours before airplane departure so you don't have to be in a hurry. These airport employees took advantage of airline passengers who were rushing to make their flights.
  • Only take the credit cards you are sure you will be using, leave the rest at home. The fewer credit cards you have, the lower the possibility of one getting lost.
  • Separate your driver's license from your credit card. That way your credit card will stay tucked away during security checks.
  • Make airport purchases with cash, if possible. The less you use your credit card in the airport, the safer it will be.
  • Check to make sure your credit card is back in your wallet or purse after making a purchase, then double check before leaving the area.
If you discover that your credit card has been lost or stolen, report it to your credit card company immediately.
